Upgraded IPX Capacity Addresses Roaming Demands
Deutsche Telekom is ahead of the IPX community with 200G interface
Bonn, November 12, Germany – Already a leading provider of secure and robust roaming capabilities, Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier upgrades its IP Exchange (IPX) capacities for one of its most prominent IPX customers, Telekom Deutschland.
In 2020, Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier and Telekom Deutschland increased IPX capacity up to 4x200 Gigabits per second (Gbps). This step was taken in anticipation of post-COVID-19 times in 2021 and the anticipated increase of Internet of Things use cases, such as Connected Cars.
“We are prepared for the next couple of years and expect the comeback of retail roaming activity after COVID-19 and also an increase in roaming traffic boosted by IoT applications, such as Connected Cars. All retail and business customers using the IPX demand uncompromised, reliable, high-speed and low latency data roaming, and we are standing by to deliver,” said Csaba Füzesi, Head of Product Management, Voice & Mobile Services at Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier.

The move to apply highly redundant 200 Gbps interfaces for IPX makes Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier the frontrunner in the IPX provider community. This first 200 G rollout will be quickly followed with multiple network advances, in order to meet the increasing needs of customers.
