Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier takes home three GCA 2019 awards!
London, October 30, 2019 – During one of the largest industry award ceremonies - the Global Carrier Awards 2019 - Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier has been recognized with awards in the categories Best Pan-European Wholesale Carrier, Best IoT Initiative and Best Marketing Campaign.
Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier is a triple winner! At the Global Carrier Awards 2019 we walked off the stage with a grand total of three trophies. For the second time in a row we have been named Best Pan-European Wholesale Carrier. We are proud that the jury has recognized our efforts to flourish in today’s rapidly changing world, where success is dependent on the ability to continually innovate. That is why we place great emphasis on new ways of thinking and on making sure our clients receive the services they need.
That we flourish in a challenging marketplace can be seen with the many advances we have made in a variety of areas. Those include our superior global connectivity, next-generation platforms, IP-based services, broad security solutions, worldwide roaming capabilities, high-end mobility products, broadband Wi-Fi in the air as well as content delivery.
We also received an award in London for Best IoT Initiative. This was for one of our newer solutions, Regional Packet Gateway. It eliminates the need to send traffic back to the end user’s home network, which can be on the other side of the world. Because of distance and due to the way IPX connectivity works, normal solutions commonly need 300-500 milliseconds travel time. Not fast enough for the under 100 millisecond speed needed for advanced use cases like autonomous driving, remote surgery or automatic manufacturing. Our Regional Packet Gateway routes transcontinental data roaming traffic to one of our global gateways at a location closer to the end user, thus saving crucial milliseconds.
In addition to the awards for Best Pan-European Wholesale Carrier and Best IoT Initiative, we also won for Best Marketing Campaign. With our award-winning marketing campaign, we wanted to spread the word about our new name: Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier. The campaign included a completely new public image, new key visual, new website, new image video and a variety of marketing materials. We started the roll-out of the new name in October 2018 and continued the campaign at numerous customer events to reach an even larger audience with expanded scope.
The reason for the change was to communicate our new way of working, new mindset and new long-term goals. We needed to prepare for a rapidly changing marketplace that necessitated agility, flexibility and faster innovation. To that end, we revamped our processes, reduced complexity, expanded our portfolio and have taken radical steps to innovate as quickly as possible. Only in this way are we able to help the entire industry keep ahead of technological advancements, instead of only being in a position to react.
