Rolf Nafziger – a Telco Innovator to Watch
In the latest issue of Capacity Magazine, a list was compiled of ‘20 Innovators to Watch’ in the wholesale telecoms industry. Along with other telco leaders, our Rolf Nafziger, Senior VP, International Wholesale Business Unit (IBU) was one of the chosen few. The decision for selection was based on his reputation as an innovative thought leader.
Rolf Nafziger has been with Deutsche Telekom for 20 years, during which time he has been instrumental in pushing forward unusual solutions and technologies. This willingness to explore the unknown led to the company’s decisive role in the European Aviation Network (EAN). EAN is the world’s first integrated LTE and satellite network that provides high-capacity coverage to passengers flying across Europe. Now, they have access to true broadband connectivity, allowing them to enjoy email, web browsing, video streaming or even VPN access while in the air.
“Our industry is quickly evolving. To not only keep up with these challenges, but actually help shape the future of telecommunications – that is a direction I hope to play a part in. To that end, our 2018 strategy calls for further embracing innovation, flexibility and agility,” explained Rolf Nafziger. He has already made huge inroads along that path, by pushing IBU to take deeper looks into currently prevalent, as well as forward-looking technologies. That explains the organization’s absorption with areas such as IoT, A2P, M2M and 5G – while continuing to develop and expand its security, mobile, content, voice and carrier-enterprise portfolios.
