New Data Center Mirroring Solution

Don’t take chances with your precious assets. Our Data Center Mirroring ensures that you always have access to your data (ITW Daily, June 26, 2019).

Our customers understand the crucial importance of protecting their valuable data assets. Because without their data, they could not run their business. That’s why organizations look to us for best-in-class security solutions and outstanding availability. And why Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier is now adding data center mirroring to our portfolio – for an important ‘double layer’ of safety.

This service facilitates the ‘mirroring’ of entire data sets from one data center to another, in different locations, via a point-to-point connection. It is particularly useful for enterprises, cloud service operators and their customers, as well as service providers needing to manage and store large amounts of data. Because if one data center goes down or becomes unavailable for any reason, a backup is immediately present and mission-critical information can continue to be accessed.

“Our data center mirroring offer will provide a redundant solution to improve the resilience of services,” says Markus Fassbender, Senior Product Manager at Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier. “It gives data owners the peace of mind and security they have come to demand. During the mirroring process, all data will of course remain fully encrypted. Deployment is at the customer’s secure location and is dedicated to their encrypted connectivity service only.”

The service will run via Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier’s Lambda Connect, a high-bandwidth platform that provides optical multiplex services based on our Dense Wavelength Division Multiplex (DWDM) technology. It employs an agile ROADM topology which is necessary to produce multi-terabits of bandwidth that can handle more than 80 different signals using only one underlying dark fiber pair. Thus, with a basic 100 Gbit/s system, up to 8 Tbit/s can be reached over a single fiber pair.

With Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier’s expertise with seamless, cost-effective transmission of traffic, our data center mirroring service will provide an economical alternative to other data mirroring options. In addition, customers are offered product variants from 1Gbps to 100Gbps, thus providing the flexibility needed to deliver customized solutions based on specific requirements. It will first be launched in Germany with other international locations available immediately thereafter.

“Our optical encryption service guaranties wirespeed performance, meaning high throughput, bulk encryption, highly scalable bandwidth, deterministic latency behavior and no packet loss. We have years of experience managing a true global network and of providing trusted, fast international connections. We’re bringing into play all our know-how to deliver the world’s best security services – including our data center mirroring solution,” says Fassbender.

The data center mirroring solution is proof of our commitment to providing our customers with exactly the services they require. As the telco industry responds to a rapidly transforming world of communications, adaptability is more important than ever. That’s why we continually research trends and requirements, to provide offerings that are in place before the need becomes critical.
