New 400GE service from Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier

Bonn, Germany – October 20th, 2021 - Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier has advanced its Lambda Connect offering and announces the launch of 400GE service for its customers by utilizing the latest WaveLogic 5 optical innovations from Ciena, enabling a leap from 100GE to 400GE services anywhere on our deployed network infrastructure. This service is designed to meet the demands for high capacity, speed and scale necessitated by networks to handle exponentially increasing volumes of data and content.

Compared to current 100GE Lambda offerings, this service delivers a fourfold increase in transfer speed with the robust performance required from network infrastructures. It provides the equivalent of 4 x 100GE via one single 400GE client interface. Accordingly, less circuits are needed, which optimizes tracking and monitoring efforts and reduces the number of hand offs and points of failure.

“Our new 400GE Lambda service is just what our customers have been asking for. In light of growing data-intensive technologies such as Cloud, 5G, machine learning, AI and the like, we have developed a future-proof, scalable solution to serve ever-expanding capacity demands,” said Rolf Nafziger, SVP Deutsche Telekom Global Business and Global Carrier. “Higher cost efficiency and mutual sustainability goals are also achievable with this new service enabled by reductions in not only equipment, power and space, but also 75% reductions in cross-connect fees when necessary.”

“We have a long-standing history with Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier, and this latest network build is a significant step in bringing critical 400GE connectivity to the pan-European region,” said Jamie Jeffries, Vice President and General Manager, International, Ciena. “Our collaboration extends from optical innovations to business outcomes, bringing to life new applications and digital experiences for Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier’s customers.”
