ICSS wins Big at the Global Carrier Awards 2017

Bonn, October 26, 2017 – Deutsche Telekom International Carrier Sales & Solutions (ICSS) celebrated an exceptional triumph on October 25th, when the wholesale unit of DT walked away with not one, but two coveted awards at the Capacity Global Carrier award ceremony. The wins were for “Best Marketing Campaign Around Industry Events” and “Best Data Service Innovation.”

The marketing award honored the organization’s witty campaign to launch its 360° Defense Strategy at this year’s ITW in Chicago. During a “Breakfast with the Champions” event for customers and partners, ICSS focused on the similarities between football and security. The concept revolved around the idea that both require intelligence, strategic thinking, flexibility, strength and the ability to outmaneuver the opponent. As Chicago is home to the famous Wrigley Field stadium and football is the USA’s favorite sport, the tie-in to football was fitting as well as clever.

To create an entertaining atmosphere and provide a memorable ambiance that would ensure the retention of information, ICSS alluded to the sports theme with invitations, speeches, online information, printed material, banners and even clothing. All ICSS staff members dressed in football-related gear of the so-called ‘DT Defense Team’. The 360° Defense Strategy was then kicked-off with the assertion of ICSS’s winning position in the area of security.

The “Best Data Service Innovation” was bestowed for ICSS’s recently launched IP-VPN Mobile Access solution. Until today, this new product remains a rarity on the wholesale market. It offers the same benefits as the company’s terrestrial IP-VPN with the additional advantage of its ability to connect customers with their hard-to-reach locations or even to temporary sites. Based on the high-performance MPLS global backbone of Deutsche Telekom, IP-VPN allows businesses to securely access their virtual private networks using mobile access technology.

The ICSS IP-VPN Mobile Access solution is a fully-fledged enterprise data product offering Layer 3 security, NNI handover and flat-rate billing. Those factors, along with full scalability, allow remote or greenfield locations to be easily and cost-effectively connected. Rollout of the service has already been completed in Germany and Hungary with additional countries with T-branded mobile operators to be added soon.

The annual awards ceremony and gala dinner was held at the Intercontinental Hotel in London, and attracted around 400 industry members from around the world. It is one of the high points of the three-day Capacity Europe conference, which is billed as the largest meeting in Europe for the global carrier community.
