Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier: VoLTE Ready
Bonn, September 21, 2020 – Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier has announced the successful completion of the first international carrier VoLTE-to-VoLTE (Voice over LTE) interconnect and roaming test between two operators within the Deutsche Telekom Group. The trial environment was carried out in February 2020 and can now be provided to other mobile network operators wanting to launch VoLTE internationally.
The positive result of the trial proved the readiness of Deutsche Telekom’s network for international end-to-end VoLTE interconnect and roaming. VoLTE is an add-on feature, which is transparently transported via Telekom Global Carrier’s voice platforms.
The traditional business model for international voice termination will remain unchanged. That means voice minutes will be counted and billed to the sender of the VoLTE traffic. By contrast, VoLTE Roaming via S8HRwill not allow minute measurements in wholesale business relationships.
Having successfully completed the first VoLTE interconnect roaming test, Deutsche Telekom is ready to offer this as a scalable service which serves the needs of both small and large voice operators. Even those not already a voice partner of Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier can request testing the VoLTE interconnect. To do so, please get in touch with your sales contact.
