Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier takes two major prizes at GCA 2020
Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier has again taken major plaudits at the Global Carrier Awards, scooping the top prize in the Best Pan-European Wholesale Carrier category and for Best Global Wholesale Carrier Voice.
These awards highlight Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier’s strengths across the board, giving us comprehensive recognition in some of the most prestigious and important areas for an international wholesale business.
It is also the third year in a row we have claimed the award for Best Pan-European Wholesale Carrier.
This reflects our ability to keep moving with the times and innovate for our customers despite market changes – and has been particularly impressive at a time of unprecedented challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the past year, we have enhanced our security options through the launch of DDoS Defense Platinum and maintained our focus on providing high-quality end-to-end coverage, including our continued innovation through the European Aviation Network. We also launched the first European 800G network to connect our data centers in Vienna, Austria, helping to meet customer demand for higher speeds and efficiency for services such as IoT, cloud computing and video.
Our new strategic realignment, with our migration into Telekom Deutschland alongside the operations of T-Systems, should further streamline and enhance our international B2B operations for customers going forward.
In addition, we took the award for Best Global Wholesale Carrier – VOICE.
COVID-19 has served to highlight Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier’s significant strengths in this area, at a time when we have seen a significant rise in voice traffic – as much as doubling to some destinations.
Despite this, we have comfortably been able to handle these increased needs to continue providing a smooth and consistent service by having the flexibility in our network to adapt capacity and routing. In addition, we put emergency procedures in place to mitigate any problems and upgraded capacity in locations that saw heightened traffic.
At the same time, we have expanded our business volume and EBITDA in a segment that has been experiencing ever-decreasing margins, while moving forward by continuing to innovate through initiatives such as working with other carriers on opportunities for using blockchain for more efficient interoperator voice agreements and introducing high-definition voice codecs.
Taking home prizes again at the Global Carrier Awards is testament to our team’s consistent hard work to keep making these possible over the past few years. We thank our team for continuing to excel even during these difficult times, and the panel of judges at the awards event for this recognition.
