Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier Launches IoT Detection Solution

September 15, 2021, Bonn, Germany. Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier today announced the launch of its new IoT Detection tool. This is a new value-added service within the wholesale provider’s roaming enablement portfolio. With the IoT Detection monitoring solution, customers are able to easily identify and thus monetize IOT roaming activity on their network.

The challenge many Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) face is a lack of IOT visibility and transparency regarding the amount and type of permanent IOT devices using their mobile network. Yet this ability is crucial, because many IoT devices produce very little or no revenue.

The IoT Detection solution gathers multiple input source information from the data roaming network, Signaling network and other commercial datasets. Analysis is then carried out by big data computation software. Visualization of the results is available in near real time over a user-friendly customer dashboard, which can be tailored to specific requirements or use cases.

Csaba Füzesi, Head of Product Management Voice & Mobile Services, Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier, said, “We want to allow our customers to monetize IoT roaming and generate additional revenue streams from permanent roaming devices utilizing their network resources. We launched IoT Detection to empower Mobile Network Operators connected to our IPX Network. Now they can clearly see what IoT activity is going on in their network and benefit from that knowledge during their commercial roaming negotiations. Thanks to the artificial intelligence and self-learning capabilities of our solution, our detection accuracy is around 97 to 98 percent.”

IoT Detection allows operators to detect IoT devices that intrude on network capacity without producing adequate income. Together with Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier’s four additional value added services, this solution completes the provider’s one-stop-shop offering for value-added Signaling services.
