Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier is certified as compliant with GLF Code of Conduct against fraud

The ITW Global Leaders’ Forum (GLF) has launched a formal process this year to attest international carriers’ compliance with the GLF Code of Conduct to prevent fraud in international telecommunications. As a result, it has now published the names of the first 19 international carriers, including Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier, that have been attested as being compliant with the industry’s Code of Conduct against fraud.

GLF is a leadership body of the international carrier industry and Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier is an active member. Its network of leaders regularly convenes to discuss strategic issues and to agree on collaborative activities with the aim is to uphold the principle of interoperability and ubiquitous international and technological coverage. The organization has set up initiatives in areas such as Network Security, IoT, Blockchain, Evolution of Settlement, Diversity Inclusion and Belonging, and of course the Fight Against Fraud.

The newly established Anti-Fraud Code of Conduct Attestation process was done independently by GLF and supported by Delta Partners. It involved the assessment of Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier’s current systems, processes and policies against agreed benchmarks set in accordance with the six principles of the Code of Conduct. Our responses were further verified by evidence during the validation procedure.

The formal attestation shows that we have the necessary competencies and systems in place to comply with the principle of the Code of Conduct. Furthermore, it provides third parties with an independent verification of our capabilities to actively fight fraud by minimizing its prevalence and impact on our networks. This includes our commitment to monitor and report on fraudulent activity, help with the investigation of fraud, take relevant steps to stop payments to those who commit fraud, and implement standard contractual clauses to harmonize the treatment of fraud across our industry. The formal certification of these anti-fraud measures is an important milestone, as the international wholesale industry is a critical part of the global ICT ecosystem, providing the backbone that enables digital services to be distributed around the world.

Details of the process and the results are included in GLF’s fourth annual report on the status of fraud in international telecoms industry.
