Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier and Akamai to Stream FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
September 13th, Bonn, Germany – The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM will be one of the largest sporting events ever seen and is sure to deliver many of the game’s most exciting moments. To bring the experience to its viewers, Deutsche Telekom’s Magenta TV will be the only provider to transmit all 64 matches, live. Today, Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier and Akamai Technologies announced their collaboration for the event.
Teamwork Wins
By working together, the two companies will enable live streaming of the 64 games via the telco provider’s online entertainment platform. To ensure reliable and stable connectivity into networks of other internet providers, Akamai will supply secured, dedicated bandwidth for the FIFA World CupTM. With that foundation, Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier will utilize Akamai’s Adaptive Media Delivery service.
With the integration of a cloud wrapper solution, the live event source feed will be effectively shielded, and overload protected. In addition, a team of Akamai experts will permanently monitor functionality and performance. In the event of any anomalies, they will be available to immediately implement proactive measures. Akamai has extensive experience in live event streaming, as well as the necessary network scaling infrastructure to assure an exceptional live streaming experience.
Rolf Nafziger, Senior Vice President Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier said, “We have partnered with Akamai for almost two decades, including successfully streaming the UEFA EURO 2020TM.
